Delaware To County Homeless


WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Volunteers are heading out across Delaware to count the number of people who are homeless in the state.


The News Journal reports several dozen volunteers will conduct the survey this week. The federal government requires the count in every state and U.S. territory. The numbers provide data for researchers and policy makers to understand the problem of homelessness.

Homeless Hit Shelters in Salisbury After Snow Fall

The homeless are flocking to shelters with the winter blast that promises to put more snow on the ground over the weekend.


Hope and Life Outreach took in 47 people over night.


Executive Director Celeste Savage told the Salisbury Daily Times that the south Boulevard shelter has bed for only 29 people but can expand to 80 with the addition of cots.


Meanwhile, the Community Emergency Shelter Project told the paper that they were expending a full house last night at this week’s host churches.
