SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say troopers shot and killed a man who may have hit or dragged a trooper with his vehicle at the Salisbury barrack.
While the barrack's duty officer checked a repair to a man's vehicle in the parking lot on Tuesday night, he called for assistance.
Police say the duty officer and a second trooper who responded to help both fired their weapons and the duty officer was found on the edge of the parking lot with injuries consistent with being hit or dragged by a vehicle.
GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a trooper shot a Georgetown man when questioning about a hit-and-run crash turned into a violent struggle.
The trooper was questioning 53-year-old Michael Rogers at his home on Thursday night about his involvement in the crash, when police say an intoxicated Rogers became uncooperative and struggled violently with the trooper. Police say a stun gun was not effective and the trooper fired his gun several times, striking Rogers in his upper body and lower extremities.
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) - State police have identified a man shot and killed by troopers after a chase on the lower Eastern Shore.
Police say 49-year-old Terry Diaz of Princess Anne was shot in the head after the chase in Somerset County Wednesday night. He died at the scene.
Police haven't said why the troopers shot Diaz. Diaz's sport-utility vehicle was stuck in the mud in a grass median at the time, and he was inside the car. Police say the troopers gave Diaz verbal commands before they opened fire.
