Romney Wins Delaware Primary

 

      DOVER, Del. (AP) - Mitt Romney has won Delaware's Republican presidential primary, turning back an upset bid by former House speaker Newt Gingrich.

     With Tuesday's victory, Romney continues his march toward the Republican presidential nomination and a November contest against President Barack Obama. Even before the results were in, Romney scheduled a visit to New Hampshire to begin what's billed as the next phase of his campaign.

     Gingrich paid several visits to Delaware, hoping his brand of retail politics would resonate with voters.

Delaware Primary Voters Could Decide Fate of Gingrich Campaign

 

      WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Newt Gingrich's longshot bid for the Republican presidential nomination brought him back to Delaware on the eve of the state's presidential primary.

     Gingrich spoke Monday night at a meeting of the Brandywine-Wilmington Regional GOP Committee, shortly after Republican National Committeewoman Priscilla Rakestraw announced that she was switching her endorsement from front-runner Mitt Romney to Gingrich, becoming the second GOP official in Delaware to do so.

Primary Day Comes to Maryland

 

     ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Republican presidential candidates are vying for 37 delegates in Maryland's primary, with Mitt Romney expected to fare well in a state that's home to many moderate GOP members.

     Candidates have been making campaign appearances in the state in advance of Tuesday's primary. Maryland is getting a rare moment in the Republican spotlight because of a nominating contest that has extended into April.

Newt Gingrich Makes Stop in Salisbury

 

     Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich made his pitch to Salisbury University College Republicans yesterday during a campaign tour of Maryland and Delaware which hold their primaries in April.

     The former House Speaker found a receptive audience, even as he began to lay off campaign staff.  

     Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush prepared this report.

Gingrich Makes Campaign Stops on Delmarva

 

      

  

     Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is scheduled to speak at Salisbury University this afternoon from 3-4 at Holloway Hall.

    The former House Speaker ‘s speech is sponsored by the Salisbury University College Republicans and is limited to the campus community with attendees required to have a school ID.

    This morning Gingrich was scheduled to stop off at the Maryland State House in Annapolis with a walk down mainstreet.

   There are 37 delegates at stake in next week’s primary.

GOP Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich Comes to Delaware

 

      HOCKESSIN, Del. (AP) - Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is making the first visit to Delaware by a candidate in this year's Republican presidential primary.

     Gingrich is scheduled to appear Monday evening at a joint meeting of the northern New Castle County and western New Castle County Republican committees at the Hockessin Fire Company.

     Gingrich also has planned an earlier private meeting with state GOP leaders, followed by an invitation-only afternoon reception in Wilmington.
