Apparent Murder-Suicide In Stabbing of Virginia's Creigh Deeds

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Police say early indications are that the son of Virginia state Sen. Creigh Deeds stabbed his father before apparently shooting himself to death.

Authorities say 55-year-old Creigh Deeds - the unsuccessful Democratic candidate for governor in 2009 - is in fair condition at a hospital with stab wounds to the head and chest. He had been previously listed as critical.

SU Student Should Recover From Tuesday Night Shooting

Salisbury University President Janet Dudley Eshbach told a vigil last night that the student Kristen Loetz is expected to recover and could walk again after being shot by a former boyfriend Tuesday night.

20 year old Loetz is now at Shock Trauma in Baltimore and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The incident occurred at the residences on Onley Road when an argument developed between Loetz and 21-year old Ryan Shallue.

Victims in Apparent Murder-Suicide Shootings Identified (Update)

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Authorities are identifying the three people shot in an apparent murder-suicide at a home near Salisbury University.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that 21-year-old Ryan Shallue shot 19-year-old Charles Abbott and 20-year-old Kristen Loetz on Tuesday night, then turned the gun on himself.

The sheriff's office says Shallue was pronounced dead on the scene and Abbott was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Loetz, a university student from Stevensville, is being treated at Shock Trauma in Baltimore in critical, but stable condition.

Former SU Student Identified in Apparent Murder-Suicide

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Authorities are identifying a man killed in an apparent murder-suicide as a former Salisbury University student.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says the man killed Tuesday by the shooter was Charles Abbott of Hebron. Authorities are not identifying a female university student wounded in the shooting or the male shooter, who turned the gun on himself and died. Investigators believe the shooting was an incident of domestic violence.
