MILFORD, Del. (AP) - A homeless shelter for Delaware veterans is establishing a second home that's intended to help female veterans and their children.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Home of the Brave has bought a second home in a rural neighborhood outside Milford. Linda Boone, the president of the nonprofit's board, says the home is meant to house up to six women.
That would make Home of the Brave the only shelter in Delaware to accommodate homeless female veterans and their children.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Volunteers are heading out across Delaware to count the number of people who are homeless in the state.
The News Journal reports several dozen volunteers will conduct the survey this week. The federal government requires the count in every state and U.S. territory. The numbers provide data for researchers and policy makers to understand the problem of homelessness.
