RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia is on pace to break its annual gun sales record following record transactions on Black Friday.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch says Virginia State Police statistics show 3,902 gun transactions in the state on Black Friday. That broke the previous record of 3,856 transactions on the same day in 2012.
As of Monday, gun transactions totaled 431,693. The record is 432,387 set in 2012.
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) - A state wildlife agency will get $1 million in federal funds from an excise tax on the sale of firearms and ammunition.
Paul Peditto, director of the Maryland Wildlife & Heritage Service, tells The Times-News of Cumberland that record firearms sales in the state the first nine months of 2013 means the service will get a 10 percent increase in its total budget.
