OC City Manager David Recor Faces Allegations of Domestic Abuse

As Ocean City town manager David Recor faces a temporary restraining order in civil court the Salisbury Daily Times reports that the legal action results from claims by his wife Maria of alleged violence during a Florida getaway.

The paper says that her written testimony included charges of punching, shoving and threats of violence.

The incident also included an alleged threat by David Recor to jump from the roof of their home.

Sexual Assault Suit Against Vance Phillips; OC Manager David Recor Faces Restraining Court Order

Vance Phillips

A lawsuit has been filed against veteran Sussex County council member Vance Phillips claiming that he sexually assaulted a young woman after encouraging her to become involved in politics.

The complaint claims that Phillips forced sex on the woman several times in 2011 just after she turned 18.

The suit alleges that Phillips threatened the young woman not to tell anyone.

Ocean City Grapples With Expected Budget Shortfall

Ocean City is facing a $1.5 million budget shortfall in the next fiscal year.

Council members are trying to come up with ways to close the gap ranging from upping parking lot fees and municipal bus fares to the creation of a stormwater utility.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the council is likely to hike the property tax rate by 1 percent with every penny generating $863-thousand in revenue.

Ocean City Pulls Back on Enforcement of Beater Board Ban

Ocean City is backing away from strictly enforcing its 42 inch limit on body boards.

This week the Ocean City Beach Patrol began pulling users of -- what are commonly called – beater boards from the water warning not to use them.

The Beach Patrol had been lax about enforcing the 1972 law.

But the Salisbury Daily Times reports that the decision to clamp down on the boards was the result of a complaint from a beachgoer who said that someone on a beater board nearly hit them in the water.

Ocean City Gets A New Town Manager

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - The resort of Ocean City has sworn in its new city manager.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports David Recor, a former city manager in Fort Pierce, Fla., officially took over the position this week.

Recor says he wants to immerse himself in the community and to meet with at least one community group or organization each week.

David Recor Takes Job as Ocean City Town Manager

 

Ocean City has a new town manger.

David Recor will start on June 11th with the Town Council set to officially approve his contract at next Tuesday’s work session.

He is quitting his job as city manager for Fort Pierce in Florida.

Council member Jim Hall told the Salisbury Daily Times that Recor is a get-it-done guy with an eye toward watching the resort’s finances.

Recor’s salary: $147-thosuand for his first year.

Ocean City Awaits Answer From City Manager Candidate as Deadline Looms

 

Ocean City could hear from the leading candidate to become the resort’s next city manager.

He was given until 5:30 pm this afternoon.

On a 4-to-3 vote the Town Council okayed negotiations for the position after the ouster of Dennis Dare nine months ago.

Council President Jim Hall said that if the answer is no then a consulting firm will be allowed to resume a nationwide search for a new candidate.

The name of the candidate under consideration has not been made public.
