Lawsuit Against Punkin Chunkin for Injuries Suffered by Lewes Resident

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Lewes resident who was injured while working at Delaware's popular Punkin Chunkin is suing festival organizers.

A complaint filed last week says Daniel Fair, who volunteered as a spotter at the 2011 festival, suffered spinal fractures after he was ejected from an all-terrain vehicle that hit a depression in the ground, then landed on top of him.

Fair is suing the Punkin Chunkin Association for negligence related to training and supervising spotters, safety measures, and conditions of the Punkin Chunkin field at Wheatley Farms in Bridgeville.

83-Year Old Woman Killed in Accident at Delaware Toll Plaza

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say an 83-year-old woman was killed when her car slammed into the back of a truck stopped at a toll plaza on Delaware Route 1 in Dover.

It happened shortly before noon Wednesday. Troopers say Shirley J. Taylor of Wilmington was traveling southbound approaching the plaza. Police say she failed to stop for a 10-wheel rollback truck that was waiting behind another vehicle paying the toll.

Officers say Taylor's car hit the rear of the truck and rode underneath it.

Motorcyclist Killed on Capitol Trail

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a motorcyclist has been killed in a crash in Newark.

Troopers were called to the crash on Capitol Trail early Tuesday.

The collision reconstruction unit is on the scene and police are warning that Capitol Trail has been reopened . It had been closed in both directions between Delaplane Avenue and Polly Drummond Hill Road.

Vigil on Kent Island for Four Teens Lost in Accident

Hundreds of community members in Queen Anne’s County turned out for a vigil at the Kent Island High School last night to mourn the loss of four teenagers who died in an accident on Wednesday on Cox Neck Road.

One was Tyler Elzey who as a volunteer firefight in the same company that responded to the call.

Others included Cory Passagno, Michael John Ringenbach and Harrison Rhoades.

Katie Debries told WBOC that she self like she just saw them yesterday before the accident making it all feel unreal.
