Eastern Shore Delegate Mike McDermott is proposing a three pronged approach to school safety in the wake of the shootings at a Connecticut Elementary school late last year.

The measures would allow teachers and other staff members to carry guns as long as those teachers are trained.

In addition, it would allow select school staff to carry Tasers as well as allow on-and-off duty police officers to be armed while on school grounds.

If the Maryland Republican’s measures are approved schools would be allowed to decide which measures work best for them.
